What ingredients do I need to make No-bake Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Bars?
You’ll only need 6 simple ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen! We purchase most of these ingredients from Sam’s Club to keep costs low.
- Peanut Butter
- Honey (we like to use organic raw honey, sometimes from a local source)
- Old Fashioned Rolled Oats (we like the Bob’s Red Mill Organic)
- Vanilla Protein Powder (use your favorite kind)
- Your Favorite Dark Chocolate (we tend to keep Ghirardelli on hand)
- Virgin Coconut Oil (we buy the large organic tub from Sam’s Club)

Helpful Supplies
- Large mixing bowl (I use a large glass pyrex bowl)
- Stainless steel blending fork (It really helps get the peanut butter and honey mixed in well with the dry ingredients)
- 8×8 baking dish (I prefer glass)
- Adjustable measuring cup (this is awesome for measuring the peanut butter or honey – no scraping!)
- Parchment paper (to more easily remove the bars from the dish)
- Plastic wrap (to cover the bars while they set in the fridge)
What if I don’t have protein powder?
For this recipe, you could omit the protein powder if you don’t have any on hand. However, if you choose to go this route, I would recommend blending up additional oats in a food processor (about one cup) to add more bulk to the dry ingredients. By skipping this step or ingredient, you’ll end up with really sticky bars that may not set correctly.
How do I make peanut butter and dark chocolate oat bars?
First, mix together your dry ingredients well (oats and protein powder) like the image below.

After you have mixed your dry ingredients, add in your peanut butter and honey. Use a blending fork for easy mixing.

Once the ingredients are well mixed, the mixture into your parchment-lined 9×9 pan.

In a medium saucepan over low-medium heat, melt together your chocolate and coconut oil until fully melted. Once melted, remove from heat and immediately pour on top of your oat layer.

Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight before cutting into eight bars. Note that the chocolate will crack slightly when you cut them, but that’s ok!

Storing the Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Bars
